The staircase prepares you for what is coming. Bowling pins at the base. A Victorian dress form on the landing. A stone sculpture on the wall above. By the time you reach the top, you understand that this is not a room that was furnished. It is a room that was assembled across a lifetime.

Timber floors, salmon pink wall, and a quality of light that changes through the day as the sun moves across the rooftops of Splantzia. The partial exposed stone column in the bedroom is a quiet reminder that the same 17th-century building runs beneath your feet.

The stone alcove is the heart of the room. A former architectural opening, now fitted with glass shelves and lined in deep red, it holds a curated collection of objects gathered from decades of travel. Each piece has a story. None of them were bought for decoration.

The kitchen sits beneath a niche that holds a collectible mask sculpture watching over the room with quiet authority. The view through the kitchen window frames the neighbouring rooftops — a reminder that you are in one of the oldest continuously inhabited neighbourhoods in the Mediterranean.

Dinner is set beneath a cougar. That is simply how it is in this studio, and it suits the room perfectly.
